a bed time fairy tale for children



so i spoke to a man
who told me the world would end
as we knew it
and the people who inhabit the earth
will become
enlightened.

a photon band
will be shrouding the world
and we'll all be doing
the neutron dance
on a specific date.
decmeber 2012.

so i let him espouse
with his discovery channel knowledge
and his pot smokers diploma
and i sat under brimmed cap
and a fuzzy hoodie
waiting for my time
to retort.

and i tell him that photons
are merely light energy
and he agrees
and that a photon emits
a micro joule
as compared to a 100 watt lightbulb
and he looks a bit
puzzeled.

so i tell him
the world will end
we will die
the trees will burn
and the animals will perish.
but not in that ray bradbury way
no.

this photon belt
doesnt exist.
and if it were to
the only enlightenment we'd receive
would be a minor sunburn.

a belt to tan our hides
