i saw you dragging on your butt
feet shuffling restlessly
ruffling the feathers
of those who sat closest to
you.

i saw you breaking those
hearts.
dealing out the pink slips
like they were playing cards.
snatching at the worlds short grass
and coming up with empty
fists.

i see you digging them holes
replacing the dirt
from one pile to another.
never finishing
what you started.

i watch all this unfold
in the mirror
before me.
i ask the reflection
"what are you doing?"
"why do you do this?"
"where are you right now?"

response never comes
from the cow eyed man
in the mirror.
its better when he
doesnt speak.

i really dont believe half
the shit that drips
from his lips anyway.
so i just watch
the mess unfold before me.
