this four day old cough
has changed into a dry bark
gaia jumps to the window
looking for a fight
every time i snap one loose
and im beginning to feel
like jeff goldblum
in the third act
of the fly

im in need of sound medical advice
and am too stubborn
or stupid
to seek it out
so i go to the fridge
and consult my only primary care physician
dr. pepper

he tells me its nothing to worry about
to eat two twinkies
wash it down with his magic elixir
and come see him again in the morning
im beginning to doubt
most seriously the validity
of his degree
but as of now
ill give anything
a shot.
