chasing tails of rabbits
bounding unluckily through those trappings
of fox holes
and lions dens
and bear traps
and still chasing those tails still bounding
thoughtless and eyes glazed like donuts
never stopping to consider
maybe the rabbit just wants to be chased
but not to be captured.
maybe i want nothing more than to chase
but never catch.
could just be that im afraid of catching that rabbit
and would have no idea
what to do with the prize
if i was so lucky to snare the hare.
so ill just continue to chase him
scurry down that hole after him
til i realize
the hole dug is too large for me to get out.
trapped
all because i wouldnt stop
